‘Cheshire Cat,’ Alice began, rather timidly, as she did not at all know whether I would like the name: however, I only grinned a little wider.

‘Come, it’s pleased so far,’ thought Alice, and she went on. ‘would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?’

‘That depends a good deal on where you want to get to’ I said.

‘I don’t much care where -’ said Alice.

‘Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,’ said I.

‘- so long as I get SOMEWHERE,’ Alice added as an explanation.

‘Oh, you’re sure to do that,’ I said, ‘if you only walk long enough.’

‘But I don’t want to go among mad people,’ Alice remarked.


‘Oh, you can’t help that,’ I said ‘we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.’

‘How do you know I’m mad?’ said Alice.


‘You must be,’ I said, ‘or you wouldn’t have come here.’


Alice didn’t think that proved it at all; however, she went on ‘And how do you know that you’re mad?’


‘To begin with,’ I said, ‘a dog’s not mad. You grant that?’


‘I suppose so,’ said Alice.


‘Well, then,’ I went on, ‘you see, a dog growls when it’s angry, and wags its tail when it’s pleased. Now I growl when I’m pleased, and wag my tail when I’m angry. Therefore I’m mad.’

The body of a young girl washed up on a beach near a town in Washington state. A small suburban town where nothing is as it seems. An FBI Special Agent was called in to investigate her strange demise only to uncover a web of mystery that ultimately lead him deep into the heart of the surrounding woodland and his very own soul. The deeper the Special Agent got into the investigation, the closer he came to the network of secrets and mysteries surrounding the town and its eccentric inhabitants.

We must confess, we’ve never watched Twin Peaks. But we were very intrigued when we heard about an apartment in downtown LA that was kitted out from floorboards to ceiling in surreal mystery horror drama television memorabilia.

We needed somewhere special to shoot our third round with Sari and it was in Twin Peaks, we found it. Who did kill Laura Palmer anyway?

We met in a bar, obviously, it’s where one meets most Russian girls we believe. And these two were as crazy as any one girl we met during our frequent trips to the clubs in Moscow years past. Another story of course. This meeting wasn’t planned. They caught our attention because they were being loud at the bar, a few tequilas in not long after lunch. They’d been living in Bali for several months already, not doing much, just lapping up the sun and warm sea air.

We got chatting and we said we’d love to shoot with them. Earlier, we’d been snapping on the beach so we were still con cámara, Natalia, or Natasha noticed it and pointed to it ‘Now, we are ready. Let’s shoot.’

Their villa wasn’t far from the bar so we scootered down. They were staying in a little hut right outside a lush pool, which they wanted to get into as soon as we got back. It was the perfect afternoon…

Jag and us had been chatting about a theme-shoot for a while. She was dark, smart, with a sordid sense of humour so we knew it needed to be special. We couldn’t hold back on this, we couldn’t waste this opportunity as our guts were telling us we’d only get one chance with her.

We gave her two location options although it wasn’t a fair competition. We could hike up through Griffith Park and shoot behind the Hollywood sign or she could become a crack addict living in a motel room on Hollywood Boulevard.


We found the ideal spot in the Hollywood Premiere Motel. The ‘MOTEL’ neon sign couldn’t be more clichéd so we got the room overlooking the street. The sign filled the room with a gorgeous blue hue and was perfectly complimented by a hint of red from the oft-on ‘Vacancy’ sign beneath it.

Jag more than got into character. She brought all the props to decorate each shot. The clothes, the shoes, the make-up, the toys, the Minnie Mouse mug that screamed of an insecure woman desperate for her childhood back.

We didn’t need to direct anything. We just quietly witnessed and watched with both fascination and camera as she transformed into a role that felt eerily recognizable to her. We didn’t know her past nor did we ask, so to this day, we’re not which Jag we captured. Either way, we couldn’t happier with the results. Here’s to the Jags.

Aiya is as near perfect as the circle tattoo hidden under her chin. The messy hair, the super laid-back attitude and the cheeky smile all make her a dream to shoot. This was the first meeting between us but had the vibe and comfort of a tenth collaboration, such was the ease of how the shots and the conversation flowed.

We met at her crash pad in the heart of Seminyak, Bali. She was running behind when she greeted me at the door, wearing her perfectly messy hair and a ‘Sex Sells’ t-shirt. She apologised for not being ready but to us, she already was.

Yes, hello everybody. Thank you for having us. Sorry we’re a little nervous, it’s our first time here. Well, we’re Liberty of the Clink and we’re Femalemuscleoholics.

We didn’t really know it until we met Lena. We first bumped into her in Toronto and we would go on to meet and shoot several times more, usually in Los Angeles when she travelled there. This girl is ripped.

It was our first time shooting a model with this physique and it was mesmerizing. And to add to that, she has a ‘couldn’t give a flying fuck’ attitude to go with it. Perfect match, right?

More often than not, you’ll find Michelle behind the camera, she shoots as she looks; sublime beauty. And I’d be hassling her for some time to get in front of one. She reluctantly agreed but then we spent some time arranging it as we rarely found ourselves in the same part of the world.

When we did, that part of the world was this hideaway, a stunning creation just outside Ubud in Bali, designed by architectural wizard Alexis Dornier. A location one can not get enough of, a paradise of patterns, colors, materials and floor-to-ceiling windows.

It was more than easy for Michelle to feel at home in this gorgeous surrounding, made all the more complete with some delicate pieces from Gooseberry; sometimes on, often off.

We’ll meet someday at our cabin.

When we first got to LA, we stayed in this cool loft downtown. One of those big open-plan numbers full with odd-matching furniture, strange light fittings and broken shit.

Sari met us there. It was the first of many shoots we’re done together and although we’re sure you can see why, the photographs really only tell a fraction of the story.

“Did you break that window?”
“No, it was broken when I moved it.”
“Look, my head can fit right through it.”
“Be careful, we’re on the 8th floor…”

“Is it ok if you get oil on this coach?”

“Do you read Playboy Magazine?”
“No, I just bought it, thought you’d look cool holding it.”
“I brought the perfect gown for this. Damn, she’s hot.”

“I have bunny ears. What else should I wear with them?”

Jessica was one of the first models we contacted when we landed in LA. We’d spent a lot of time shooting across Asia and it was a rare sight to see a heavily-tattooed woman. When you’re not used to seeing something it becomes more obvious, and this became very clear to us when we sat people-watching on Venice boardwalk. An image-free girl became the novelty.

A good friend recommended Jessica as both an inked-muse and an absolute doll. She was right on both counts. She lived in a small apartment in Venice which had a cool rooftop, so we decided to shoot there. Her room was small but we just wanted to capture body studies of her anyway so we didn’t need much space. And the dim light was perfect for the mood we were looking for. We were then able to open up a little when we got to the roof, which has this fantastic old recliner chair. But bloody hell, we felt for her as it was cold, with the wind rattling in from the sea, just a few hundred metres away.
